Tertiary Scholarship and Awards

We support individuals through supporting research excellence. We fund one PhD scholarship in energy research (three years support) and several awards for study at university (postgraduate).

To be eligible your research must be undertaken at an approved university in Aotearoa NZ.

Todd Foundation Postgraduate Scholarship in Energy Research

To support research in the field of energy which may have wide relevance, including value, to Aotearoa NZ. Value: $25,000 per year for up to three years, and a further $3,000 available for conference expenditure.

Todd Foundation Awards for Excellence (Universities)

To support projects that promote excellence, have a wide franchise and encourage the development of new concepts, technology or research which will benefit Aotearoa NZ. Several awards offered for post-graduate study in three categories:

  • Science and Technology (including Agriculture and Conservation)
  • Engineering and Manufacturing (including Architecture and Design)
  • Business and Commerce

Value: Varies – can be between $2,000 to $8,000 for one year.

Todd Foundation Awards for Excellence (Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics)

These awards are not being offered in 2017

To support projects that promote excellence, have a wide franchise and encourage the development of new concepts, technology or research which will benefit Aotearoa NZ. The emphasis is on projects which have a practical application.  Several awards were offered for study at level 7 or above with a minimum of 45 credits in four categories:

  • Science and Technology (includes Agriculture and Conservation)
  • Engineering and Manufacturing (includes Architecture and Design)
  • Business and Commerce
  • Health and Social Sciences
